The Game Awards are a curious beast: part award show and part pan-industry E3 press conference, but all in all they’re a good show, and Geoff Keighley’s effort to make a definitive awards show for the gaming industry only seems to get better each year. This was a curious year for the industry overall: we’re on the cusp on new consoles but they’re not here yet, and we’ve been a little bit short on the usual AAA award hogs. But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been rivers of excellent games in 2019, some which won awards last night!
